World Whiskey Day celebration at Barrel 31 with Pappy Van Winkle Whiskey Dinner on May 21

Exclusive four-course dinner will feature whiskey pairings and cocktails, new dishes and whiskey education

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (May 6, 2015) – As post-celebration of World Whiskey Day on May 16, Barrel 31 announces a private Pappy Van Winkle Whiskey Dinner to take place on Thursday, May 21 at 6:30 p.m. The dinner will feature four courses prepared by Executive Chef Eric Carter, accompanied by thoughtfully-selected whiskey pairings and cocktails for each course.

The dinner will also include a whiskey education component, led by a local whiskey expert, to be announced. Expert discussions will include the whiskey aging process, the interaction of flavors with the paired dishes and more.

Tickets must be purchased before the time of the event, as seating is limited to 25 people. Tickets are available for $100 per person, and can be purchased at time of reservation. Reservations will be accepted through May 20, and can be made in the restaurant or by calling (816) 569-3801.

First Course:Pickled Chilled Shrimp – gulf shrimp, citrus, fennel, chile toast

B31 Julep – Four Roses bourbon, lemon, fresh mint, Traveler’s Beer Company Lemon Shandy

Second Course:Frisée and Arugula Salad – glazed pork belly, croutons

Old Rip Van Winkle 10 year

Third Course:Dry-Aged Flat Iron Steak – root vegetable puree, smoked mushroom, roasted olives, Barrel 31 sauce

Van Winkle Family Reserve Rye

Fourth Course:Brioche Bread Pudding – caramelized banana, whiskey pecan ice cream
