BC3 announces the Chuck W. Dunaway Hall of Fame

(Butler, PA) Butler County Community College hosted a Dedication and Induction Ceremony for the new Charles W. Dunaway Hall of Fame on Wednesday, May 6 at 6:30 p.m. in the Field House on main campus. The Hall of Fame is named for Chuck Dunaway and he is the first person to be inducted as a current Pioneer Golf Coach and former Athletic Director.

Chuck Dunaway created the athletic program at BC3 and served as Director from 1968 to1999. He coached many of the teams, including Golf (1968 to 1999 and 2004 to present),Baseball (1971), Basketball (1968 to 1971), Cross Country (1969 to 1975 and 1981), and Tennis (1975 to 1993).

Guest speakers at last night’s event lauded Chuck as an excellent role model, coach, teacher, mentor, and lifelong friend. Guest speakers included: Mike Franko, BC3 Distinguished Alumni and former Cross Country Team Member; Bill Miller, BC3 Alumni and former basketball player, Assistant Basketball coach for 19 years, and current Golf Coach for 10 seasons; and John Stuper, current Head Coach of the Yale Bulldogs and former Major League pitcher with the St. Louis Cardinals when they won the World Series in 1982.

Chuck Dunaway was inducted into the Hall of Fame by former colleagues Dick Hartung, current basketball coach and Assistant Professor, and Dr. Kathy Wood, Professor. Chuck’s wife Judy and their three children and grandchildren were in attendance.

"BC3 talked about having a Hall of Fame to honor outstanding coaches and athletes for many years, but it was this year, during the 50^th Anniversary, that BC3 President Nick Neupauer asked the Athletic Director Rob Snyder to bring the idea to fruition," said Susan Changnon, Executive Director of Communications and Marketing.

The Hall of Fame is a permanent installation in the BC3 Field House.
