More than 100 Kansas City area restaurants to donate 10 percent of sales Saturday, Oct. 17, to support fallen firefighters

The Greater Kansas City Restaurant Association and Kansas City Originals Dining for Heroes campaign will bring restaurants and diners together to benefit the families of John Mesh and Larry Leggio
KANSAS CITY, MO. (Oct. 14, 2015) – In response to Monday’s tragedy that took the lives of Kansas City firefighters John Mesh and Larry Leggio, the Greater Kansas City Restaurant Association (GKCRA) and the Kansas City Originals are bringing together area restaurants and diners on Saturday, Oct. 17 to raise funds for the families of these fallen heroes. For one day only – Oct. 17 – participating Kansas City restaurants from across the area will donate 10 percent of sales to the Dining for Heroes Fund, a support account dedicated to the families of John Mesh and Larry Leggio.
In the past 24 hours, more than 100 Kansas City restaurants have signed up to participate; the GKCRA anticipates this number will continue to increase through Oct. 17. In addition, diners and restaurants are encouraged to share their support through social media with the official hashtag, #DiningForHeroes.
Further, in addition to the ten percent of sales, diners will have the opportunity to contribute additional funds at all participating restaurants through donation jars. All funds raised will go to the Dining for Heroes Fund.
Individuals may also make donations directly to the Dining for Heroes Fund by mailing a check or money order to “The Greater Kansas City Restaurant Association” with a memo or notation of Dining for Heroes by no later than Friday, Oct. 16:
